Treatment of 9000T/D oily wastewater in Chile
Chile 9,000 m³/day Produced-Water Victory – Twin DAF Train Cuts Oil < 5 ppm,At a copper-mine heap-leach camp 2,800 m above sea level, every litre of water counts. We delivered a double-stage DAF plant that recovers 95 % of influent flow as reuse-quality effluent—oil ≤ 5 ppm, TSS ≤ 10 ppm—while slashing chemical spend 30 % against legacy API separators.
What went live in the Atacama:
1. 40-ft high-shear DAF-1 (Ø 4.5 m) – 150 m³/h, 7 bar white-water saturator, 5 % recycle. Removes free & emulsified oil down to 40 ppm in a 3-minute rise rate.
2. 40-ft low-shear DAF-2 (Ø 4.5 m) – 150 m³/h, polymer-free flotation with cationic coagulant only; polishes to < 5 ppm oil, < 10 ppm TSS, ready for RO feed.
3. Integrated sludge thickener & 500 kg/h dewatering screw – cake 25 % DS, hauled to licensed oil-field landfill once a month.
• Oil & grease ≤ 5 ppm
• TSS ≤ 10 ppm
• COD removal 65 % (raw 1 200 ppm → 420 ppm)
• Recovery rate 95 % (8 550 m³/day reuse)
Footprint: 280 m² – 80 % smaller than conventional API + IGF train. Energy: 0.9 kWh/m³ including air compression and sludge dewatering. CAPEX: 25 % below local stick-build; OPEX locked to US$ 0.08 per m³ chemical. Delivery: 10 weeks ex-works, 2 weeks on-site, 72-hour cold-commissioning to mine sign-off.
From Antofagasta to Punta Arenas, our twin DAF platform turns tough Chilean produced water into clear, reusable resource—so mines keep running, even when the rain never comes.
